Today is “National Pinot Noir Day” so let’s celebrate this tasty varietal, which happens to be my personal favorite. I know there are many other “Pinot People” out there who also adore California wines, so I wanted to mark the occasion by telling you about a few great options from Mark West Wines—a winery known for producing really great Pinot Noirs at an affordable price.

First is the “Mark West California Pinot Noir,” which I especially love for outdoor grilling. It’s a great option for those Labor Day celebrations up ahead, not to mention tailgating season. Another really great option is the “Mark West Black” Pinot Noir, which is a deeper and darker option that’s great for those who prefer a bolder flavor palate. It’s full-bodied, rich, and smooth, with notes of black cherries, plums, mocha, vanilla and caramel. This wine pairs perfectly with grilled lamb chops, gourmet flatbread pizza and pulled pork sandwiches and is fantastic for those backyard BBQs.
